Boiling Water is shot down into the ground, tar sands are forced up
What happens when forests (literally) stand in the way of extracting tar sands from deep underground the Earth? Companies building oil extraction sites on the land, clear-cut forests, remove the resources then reforest (replant) the site when they are done with it. Every effort is made to keep the toxic sludge, produced as a by-product, away from the nearby rivers and water systems.
2nd Largest Oil Reserves in the World
There are enough oil reserves in Alberta for mining to continue for several decades. Many people are employed, making high salaries, in the oil field. There is a heavy impact on the environment but oil companies plan to return the land to how it was, when they are finished mining.
